NAAAP Wellness Wednesday:

Finding Harmony Within: Cultivating Spiritual Well-being for Resilience in the Face of Burnout

Feeling the pressure to succeed? Struggling to find balance amidst busy schedules? This interactive workshop explores the concept of spiritual well-being as a source of strength and resilience for Asian professionals.

Weaving together Eastern practices and mindfulness techniques, we will delve into:

  • Understanding Spiritual Wellbeing: Explore different perspectives on spiritual well-being from various Asian traditions and cultures.
  • Challenges and Opportunities: Discuss the specific challenges Asian professionals face in cultivating spiritual well-being, and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Practical Tools: Discover practical tools and techniques inspired by Qi Gong, mindfulness meditation, and other practices to:
    • Manage stress and anxiety
    • Enhance focus and clarity
    • Promote inner peace and self-compassion

Jacqueline Chan is a certified Qi Gong instructor and Registered Psychotherapist, who draws upon her Master’s degrees in Pastoral Studies and Early Childhood Studies. Rooted in theological and spiritual grounding from the Buddhist Stream at The University of Toronto’s Toronto School of Theology, this professional degree has enabled her to offer psycho-spiritual therapy as a therapist in various settings.

Jacqueline incorporates mindfulness practices and Qi Gong exercises into her therapeutic approach to promote holistic wellbeing. Jacqueline has extensive experience working with Asian and Canadian Asian communities and is dedicated to bridging cultural traditions with practical tools for modern life. Jacqueline has presented at hospital (The Hospital for Sick Children) and university conferences, and teaches Qigong at Pureland International Qigong, with her mother, Master Teresa. Jacqueline has learned Qigong since she was a child from Grandmaster Wu. She empowers others on their recovery journey through workshops and her practice, Point Zero Psychotherapy, where she focuses on helping women healing from toxic or unhealthy relationships to find more joy and contentment in their lives. Each month NAAAP Chicago's Wellness program hosts a free session of self-care called Wellness Wednesday!

Wellness impacts so many facets of our professional and personal life. Small things can make a big difference, from music to taking a walk. So we've planned an interactive activity each month to help prepare for and deal with growing stressors! Lets share ways we can foster our own wellness and the wellness of our workplaces, community, etc!

Culturally sensitive sessions will be facilitated by our founding leader of NAAAP-Chicago Wellness - Dr. Elizabeth 방실 Smith Han (PsyD).
