Wellness Wednesday

a Self-Care Monthly Meetup

Join us each month for a session of self-care at our Wellness Wednesday Meetup!

Food is such an important part of Asian American heritage so we have invited 2 guest speakers to answer your questions about nutrition and wellness! Let's discuss the gut’s strong connection to our brain and how to decolonize and honor our ancestral diets! Although everyone is different, this discussion is intended to help attendees learn common health risks, which food and nutrients aid in physical and mental health, and how to think outside the kitchen in supporting the gut and brain while honoring our cultural roots!

Come with questions for our guest speakers:

Sheela Ivev, MS, OTR/L, CMHIMP, is a South Asian occupational therapist that specializes in wellness and mental health. Occupational therapists differ from other therapists in that they address both physical and emotional health. She helps individuals and professionals build resilience to manage the stress and demands of life and work and regain control of their health and well-being. She is committed to removing the barriers to care that keep people from accessing health and wellness services.

Nicole Arcilla, MS, RDN, LDN, is a registered dietitian nutritionist from the D.C. Metro Area.  She has been working in the health and wellness space for 10 years. Nicole is currently the owner of Your Gut Feeling, an online nutrition business focusing on helping others enhance their mental health through gut healing and holistic health approaches. Outside of work, Nicole enjoys various forms of art including photography, playing music, and writing poems. In a pre-COVID world you could typically find Nicole exploring various coffee shops in the DC area, but these days she spends time making her own drink and food recipes and hanging out with her husband and two cats.
