NAAAP Wellness Wednesday: FInding Your Voice:
Join us for an evening of poetry, spoken word, and story-telling performances followed by a Q&A to give insight into how we can harness our own inner, creative voices as Asian Americans!
Speakers include:
David Hong aka Hongy:
David Hong is the first Korean-American to represent the Nuyorican Poets Cafe in New York City. He has represented other teams across the nation including Hawaii, Las Vegas and New Jersey. His work looks to inspire others through his own perspective of the Korean-American experience.

Noah Arhm Choi
Noah Arhm Choi is the author of CUT TO BLOOM, the winner of the 2019 Write Bloody Prize. They received a MFA in Poetry from Sarah Lawrence College and their work appears in Blackbird, The Massachusetts Review, Pleiades, The Rumpus, Split this Rock and others. Noah was shortlisted for the Poetry International Prize and received the 2021 Ellen Conroy Kennedy Poetry Prize, alongside fellowships from Kundiman, the Sewanee Writers’ Conference, and the Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing. They work as the Director of the Progressive Teaching Institute and Associate Director of DEI at a school in New York City.

Jonathan Chan
Jonathan Chan is a writer and editor of poems and essays. Born in New York to a Malaysian father and South Korean mother, he was raised in Singapore and educated at Cambridge and Yale Universities. He is the author of the poetry collection going home (Landmark, 2022). He has an abiding interest in faith, identity, and creative expression. Gabbi Jue (she/her)
Gabbi is a Chinese-American spoken word poet, artist, and survivor. Originally hailing from Arizona, she has been a member of the Northern Arizona poetry community since 2011, and has represented Sedona and Flagstaff Poetry Slam teams at various Regional and National Poetry Slam competitions including the Women of the World, and Individual World Poetry Slams. Her writing is known for her subjects on Asian identity, body image, and chronic illness — constantly seeking what it means to be gentle with oneself. Gabbi now currently resides in Connecticut and is still getting used to the East Coast humidity.

Each month NAAAP Chicago's Wellness program hosts a free session of self-care called Wellness Wednesday!
Wellness impacts so many facets of our professional and personal life. Small things can make a big difference, from music to taking a walk. So we've planned an interactive activity each month to help prepare for and deal with growing stressors! Lets share ways we can foster our own wellness and the wellness of our workplaces, community, etc!
Culturally sensitive sessions will be facilitated by our founding leader of NAAAP-Chicago Wellness - Dr. Elizabeth 방실 Smith (PsyD).
