Loyola University Chicago Libraries and School of Social Work
Event Details
Loyola University Chicago Libraries and the School of Social Work invite you to an insightful talk on by Shweta Singh, PhD, Associate Professor in the School of Social Work on the topic of empowerment and women focusing on the Indian Subcontinent. India is a fast-emerging economy and remains a complex cultural experience even without adding gender to the mix. Women become increasingly important to the growth development trajectory of emerging economies. The large number of Indian women in Chicago and in the U.S. makes their empowerment both locally, nationally, and globally relevant. Dr. Singh will cover topics on social values, economic status, mental and physical health, and well-being of women. She will also read excerpts from her play and novel.
